For almost half a century, Edward John Eyre High School has been at the centre of the local community as the only public senior secondary school.
We are proud of our achievements, our programs and the positive relationships we build with students, parents and the community. Our diverse and talented staff work tirelessly to ensure our students are given every opportunity to be successful.
We continue to build on our enviable record of providing students with successful future pathways in both tertiary training and employment. Our partnerships with the local University, TAFE, Industry and Alliance schools are extensive, ensuring broader curriculum opportunities are available for students right across the City of Whyalla.
Every member of the Edward John Eyre High School staff is committed to student needs; they constantly strive to ensure that the teaching-learning experience challenges and supports them to embrace a society that is rapidly changing. All staff members have recently undertaken training in Mind Matters and Literacy, and these skills are infused into their teaching and the curriculum to ensure that not only are our students able to achieve academically, but also to flourish as individuals.
A comprehensive knockout sports program is available for the many sporty students here in Whyalla, as well as the Whyalla Schools Stage Band for budding musicians. The school caters for diversity through the Aboriginal Education Centre, as well as the Alternative Learning Centre for students requiring a more flexible schooling experience.
While this website provides an excellent introduction to what we offer, I believe that the best way of assessing a school is to view it in action. Therefore, I warmly invite you to join me on a tour during school hours to see a range of classes in progress and experience for yourself the welcoming, supportive, and richly rewarding learning environment that Edward John Eyre High School provides.
